My name is Jan Thøgersen, I am 44 years old and live in an old farm house from 1854, about 15 km outside the city of Aarhus in Denmark - a very ham friendly location. I am married to Jeanine, who is originally from Virginia, USA, but who is beginning to sound more and more like a local, and together we have John Louis, 8 and Anne Patricia 3. We are an active family with lots of different interests such as music, play and the nature around us. I work in an Advertising Agency and Jeanine is a Registered Nurse. John Louis is an active Boy Scout, and plays Soccer and Handball. Anne Patricia just started in Kindergarden. We usually try to go to the United States at least once a year to visit family and friends. My job and interests have taken me to many interesting places in the world. I have been to the United States more than 50 times and travelled extensively in many different African countries as a photographer in the 80´s a.o. for the Red Cross, as well as most European countries, Greenland, the Middle East and China - but there are still lots of places I need to see - It´s a fantastic world out there. I got my first ham radio license in 1974 and have always been attracted to DX´ing and Contesting. I have fond memories of exiting communications with exotic places from the days long before the internet and that fascination still lies deep within me and I am as excited about it all today as I was back then. As a frequent traveller I often carry a VHF/UHF portable radio with me where I go, and I have met many hams around the world this way. However, my main interest is HF. I have transformed the old chicken shack on the farm into a great ham radio shack with lots of toys and a cozy atmosphere and visiting Hams are always welcome to stop by for a cup of coffee -or a contest. I also collect equipment from the renowned old danish radio manufacturer Bang & Olufsen - You can read more about this at http://www.thogersen.dk
